Tableaux Vivants was shot in� the gardens of the castle of Gaasbeek, a place where history has frozen to a timeless expression. Also the surrounding area is preserved as a Breughel landscape. Nothing can be changed. The construction of the architectural elements and the frozen postures of the people highlight the construction of the landscape. The postures of the people were chosen from a wide array of postures seen in for example rock art, primitive sculpture, Renaissance painting as well as from newspapers and magazines.
